When Dale Bruning and I, Jude Hibler, formed our partnership in 1995, we wanted to record Dale as leader on our label, publish his books, and produce and perform The Timeless Music of Great Composer Concerts. Since I am a writer by profession, I suggested that I be part of the presentations by researching and writing out scripts about the composers we chose and the song selections that Dale made. He wrote his own arrangements for those songs, chose the musicians, and then we performed our concerts at various venues.
The first time we recorded one of our programs was at a fund-raiser for Boulder Community Hospital. We were in a private home with about 100 people in attendance. The second of two shows was the music of Harry Warren, which you will hear on this CD. You will also hear my narration about Warren and about the 6 songs recorded. Songs like The More I See You, I Had the Craziest Dream, and I Only Have Eyes for You are heard here. Because pianist and leader of the Modern Jazz Quartet, John Lewis, had died a few days before we performed, we added one of his best know compositions of 2º East, 3º West as a special tribute to Mr. Lewis.
