The Dale Bruning Quartet Plays the Music of Charles Eakin. Charles who?? you ask? Charles was a Professor of Music at the University of Colorado in Boulder for many years. Both Charles and Dale came to Colorado in 1964. They met a few years later and formed a life-long friendship thereafter. Charles composes both classical and jazz music, as well as playing the double stringed bass.
Thirty years passed from the time Dale and Charles met until this recording was made. In 1994, we were invited to his home in LaVeta, Colorado, an arts town in southwest Colorado near the Spanish Peak Mountains. The lovely home was large enough to invite a few friends in during the recording.
With Dale are Rich Chiaraluce on reeds, Mark Simon on bass, and Paul Romaine on drums.
